The Government of Kerala plans to set up a greenfield international airport named Sabarimala Greenfield International Airport, in the Kottayam district at Cheruvally Estate. Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), a premier agency of the state government, will oversee the development of the upcoming airport, poised to cater for the Central Travancore and the Sabarimala Pilgrims at Cheruvally Estate.
The project will occupy an anticipated 2263.18 Acres of land parcel and will feature one of the longest runways measuring 3,400 meters long and 45 metres wide.
