Odisha CM lays foundation stone for JSW Group’s INR 65,000 Crore steel facility

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Friday, February 16, laid the foundation stone for JSW Group‘s steel plant worth an estimated INR 65,000 Crore. The project is expected to create 30,000 direct and indirect job opportunities along and drive Odisha’s economic growth by fostering a robust ancillary and downstream ecosystem.

The upcoming facility will be developed in Dhinkia Nuagaon and Gadakujanga in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha and will have an annual steel manufacturing capacity of 13.2 Million Tonnes. The Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO) has allotted an anticipated land parcel of 2,958 Acres for this development, with 30% land dedicated to forest and water bodies preservation.

The facility will also include a captive solar power plant, captive jetties with cargo handling capacity, a cement manufacturing unit, and a modern township with other components. JSW received Environmental Clearance (EC) for the greenfield project from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) in 2022 and acquired the land in January 2024.
