JSW Steel gets nod to set up 2,678 Acre greenfield-integrated steel plant in Odisha

JSW Utkal Steel Ltd, a subsidiary of JSW Steel, on Friday, January 05, announced the acquisition of a total of 2950.31 Acres of land parcel in Rajnagar, near Pradip Port, Odisha. The company plans to set up a greenfield integrated steel plant on the acquired land.

The proposed project will be developed at an estimated cost of INR 65,000 Crore in a phased manner, the company announced last year. It will have the capacity to produce 13.2 MTPA (Million Tonnes Per Annum) of crude steel. Of the total land area, 2677.80 Acres is forest land, while 272.51 Acres of non-forest land will be leased by the Odisha Government.

JSW Utkal Steel Ltd received Environmental Clearance (EC) for the greenfield project from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) in 2022. The EC was re-validated by MoEF&CC in September 2023 with additional and modified EC conditions. The construction will begin as soon as the government hands over the land.
