Shirdi Sai Electricals invests INR 15k Crore to set up Solar Cell Unit

Shirdi Sai Electricals Ltd, on Wednesday, April 3, announced an estimated investment of INR 15,000 Crore in setting up an integrated solar cell to module manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. Once completed, it will be the world’s first fully integrated quartz-to-module manufacturing plant.

Indosol Solar, a subsidiary of Shirdi Sai Electricals, will invest in the first phase of the upcoming project, which will be developed in a phased manner. The first phase will comprise 5GW of modules, wafers, ingots, and glass capacities each. It will also include the setup of 5GW glass, a raw material product. Module production under Phase IA commenced on Sunday, March 31. The estimated investment of this phase is INR 1,300 Crore for 500MW module manufacturing. The entire Phase I is anticipated to be completed by 2025.

Moreover, Sai Shirdi Electricals plans to complete the overall project by 2028. It will have an upscale capacity of 30GW as well as a downstream capacity of 20GW. The facility will manufacture TOPCon (tunnel oxide passivated contact) and HJT (heterojunction technology) modules.
