India’s first Multi Modal Transportation Hub in Surat, Gujarat

The Surat Multi Modal Transportation Hub (MMTH), being developed by SITCO aims to integrate rail, bus, and BRT facilities into a sustainable, world-class complex. This project addresses urban transportation challenges by creating a cohesive and efficient transportation network.

Project Overview:

Distinguished as the country’s first Multi Modal Transport Hub, the Surat Multi-Modal Transportation Hub (MMTH) is a mega project being developed in Surat, Gujarat. Covering an anticipated 79.07 Acres of land, the project’s estimated construction cost is INR 878 Crore. Its construction area is approximately 9,041,684 SqFt.

The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), and the Surat Municipal Corporation formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named Surat Integrated Transportation Development Corporation (SITCO) which is actively developing this project. It includes redeveloping the Surat Railway Station, the central bus station at Lambe Hanuman, BRT routes, and related infrastructure. The Surat MMTH is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. This significant project aims to provide world-class facilities at both the railway station and the Inter-State Bus Station (ISBT) within an integrated complex. Meanwhile, it will help address traffic and other issues in the region.

Creative Group serves as the design architect for this project while Girdhari Lal Constructions Pvt Ltd is the EPC Contractor. As of August 2024, various works are progressing on-site, with the structural work of the departure terminal building prioritized.
