The Karnataka Government has unveiled plans to develop a new economic corridor to boost connectivity between Bengaluru and Kalyana Karnataka. This corridor will include Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Ballari, and Vijayanagara.

The Public Works Department (PWD) will spearhead the project, funded by the Kalyana Karnataka Regional Development Board (KKRDB). The proposed greenfield expressway stretches around 600 Km. The project seeks to streamline travel and enhance transport efficiency between Bengaluru and Bidar. The new economic corridor will offer a swifter, safer route for both goods and passengers. It will connect vital industrial zones, district headquarters, and financial centers.

Furthermore, PWD has issued a tender to select a consultant for a pre-feasibility study. This study will determine the optimal route, the number of lanes, land acquisition needs, and potential benefits. The study will also review existing alignments, traffic data, and future growth potential to ensure the corridor’s economic and technical viability. This initiative marks PWD’s first venture into greenfield expressway construction.
