NHAI floats tender for Ludhiana-Bathinda Highway Project

The Ludhiana-Bathinda highway project, which had been shelved due to land acquisition issues, is back on track. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has floated a tender to invite fresh bids from contractors to resume work.

The upcoming Ludhiana-Bathinda highway will be divided into two packages at a total project cost of 2,461.64 INR-Crore. Package 1, covering 30.03 Km, will cost an estimated 906.51 INR-Crore. Meanwhile, Package 2, covering 45.246 Km, will cost nearly 1,555.13 INR-Crore. The Ludhiana-Bathinda highway project is part of the Ludhiana-Ajmer Economic Corridor and will significantly enhance connectivity.

NHAI had withdrawn the project last year due to the lack of land. However, after the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, intervened, the state government took action. Consequently, NHAI has now acquired almost all the necessary land.
