The State government of Maharashtra has put forth a proposal to provide funding of $300 million USD (INR 2,500 Crore) for building three medical colleges in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Nandurbar.
The state will contribute 50% of the funds, which amounts to $150 million (INR 1,250 Crore), towards capacity building for the medical colleges, each of which will have 400-bed hospitals attached to them. These medical colleges are greenfield projects and are being financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Additionally, the state government is exploring the concept of securing funding from private entities through a public-private partnership model for upgrading the existing medical colleges.
