The CM of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, on November 26, announced the construction work for Assam’s longest flyover has begun and is projected to be completed by 2026. The project aims to alleviate traffic and ease connectivity in the area.
The six-km-long flyover will connect Dighalipukhuri to Bamunimaidan on the Maniram Dewan Road (in Guwahati) at an estimated cost of 888 INR Crore.

The CM had also inaugurated a few key flyovers in the state that have already demonstrated their crucial role in alleviating traffic challenges. These include:
- Shraddhanjali Flyover over Zoo Road in Guwahati on October 18, 2023, coinciding with the auspicious Maha Panchami.
- Nilachal Flyover in Maligaon on August 30, 2023.
- Arya Nagar Flyover, in October 2022, with an estimated cost of 149.07 INR crore and spanning 790 meters.
