Assam: NHIDCL to develop Silchar to Jiribam road at 733 INR-Crore

The central government has assigned the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) to develop a road connecting Silchar in Assam to Jiribam in Manipur. Authorities have estimated the cost of the four-laning project at 733 INR-Crore.

To accelerate progress, officials have invited international competitive bidding for the four-laning project on NH-37. The selected stretch runs from Silchar near Budha Nagar to Jiribam and will be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) of NH (Original)-NE. Spanning approximately 13.09 Km, the project will follow the design, build, operate, and transfer (DBOT Annuity) model.

This initiative will significantly enhance road infrastructure in Barak Valley while improving cross-border connectivity with Manipur. With better connectivity, the road project will boost trade, streamline transportation, and drive regional development in Assam.
