BBMP to build 18-km tunnel project worth INR 8,100 Cr in Bangalore

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) plans to construct an 18-km-long underground tunnel road in Bangalore, Karnataka. The estimated cost of the tunnel project is INR 8,100 Crore, translating to roughly INR 450 Crore per km.

BBMP plans to complete the project by January 1, 2025. The proposed tunnel will connect Esteem Mall in Hebbal (located in north Bangalore) to the Central Silk Board junction in the southern part of the city.

Additionally, it will feature five strategically placed entry and exit points along its route. These would be in locations such as the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) quarters at Central Silk Board, Lalbagh, Bangalore Golf Club, Palace Grounds, and a vacant government land adjacent to Esteem Mall in Hebbal.
