BHEL bags 7,500 INR-Crore contract for 800 MW Ukai thermal plant

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has secured an estimated 7,500 INR-Crore contract to build an 800 MW unit at the Ukai Supercritical Thermal Power Plant in Tapi, Gujarat. The project will take around 54 months to commence commercial operation.

The new unit will rise on the existing ash dyke area, making efficient use of available land. BHEL will handle the entire process, including design, engineering, manufacturing, and supply. Additionally, the company will oversee the erection, testing, and commissioning of the EPC package.

Moreover, BHEL will carry out all crucial electrical, civil, and structural work to ensure seamless execution. The scope also includes installing highly efficient emission control systems and reinforcing sustainability. With this project, the Ukai Supercritical Thermal Power Plant will take a major leap toward cleaner and more advanced energy generation.
