A new airport, the Bhiwadi Greenfield International Airport, is coming up in Alwar district, Rajasthan. The proposed project is by the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC), Airports Authority of India (AAI). Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Ltd (DMICDC) also investigated 3 alternative sites. These include a site to the West of the NH 8, 40 km North-West of Jaipur (near Kaladera), in between Neemrana and Bhiwadi (near Kotkasim), and a site to the West of the NH 8 (near Trivenidham).
This proposed airport site is roughly 6.2 km long in the East-West direction and 3.5 km in the North-South direction. The area covered by the airport site is approximately 5086 acres or 2058 hectares. This project proposal divides the complete project into four phases. They include the following phases with their construction year and capacity in a million passengers per annum (MPPA):
- In Phase I, the construction will take place between 202 and 027. The proposed capacity is 3 MPPA.
- For Phase II, the construction will take place between 202 and 032. The proposed capacity is 11 MPPA.
- In Phase III, the construction will take place between 203 and 042. The proposed capacity is 30 MPPA.
- For Phase IV, the construction will take place between 204 and 052. The proposed capacity is 65 MPPA. This is also the maximum capacity for the proposed project.
The total cost for all four phases is around INR 10,670 crores. This project’s proposed passenger terminal building has the following construction area according to each phase:
- Phase 1 of 22,500 sq. m. (or 2,42,187.98 sq. ft.)
- Phase 2 of 90,000 sq. m. (or 9,68,751.94 sq. ft.)
- Phase 3 of 1,12,500 sq. m. (or 12,10,939.92 sq. ft.)
- Phase 4 of 2,62,500 sq. m. (or 28,25,526.48 sq. ft.)
