Bhupesh Baghel Lays Foundation Stone Of Thermal Project In Chhattisgarh

On Saturday, 29 July, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel laid the foundation stone for a modern thermal power plant with a capacity of 1320 MW in the state’s Korba district. 

The power plant will be named after former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. It will consist of two units, each with a capacity of 660 MW, and will utilize new-age super-critical technology. The estimated cost of setting up the plant is INR 12,915 Crore.

In addition to the power plant, Mr. Baghel also laid the foundation stone for a new building of Lt Bisahu Das Mahant Memorial Medical College Korba, which will be constructed at the cost of INR 325 Crore

The commissioning of the plant is expected to take place between 2029-2030, but due to the speedy execution of procedures, it may commence operations even before 2028.
