The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai started a scheme ‘Ashray Yojana’ for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) sanitation workers’ colonies.

Under this scheme, it is planned to make affordable housing available, along with the redevelopment of about 28,000 sanitation workers’ colonies.

At present, the redevelopment work is being planned at 37 places, as per the Ministry of State for Urban Development. These sites are spread over Mumbai City and Suburb and are clubbed into 11 groups. Each group is having a scope of around and 600 – 1800 tenements.

Tenders have been floated one for the selection of Project Management Consultant and another for the appointment of Design & Built Turnkey Contractor.
