The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of a six-lane access-controlled high-speed National Highway connecting JNPA Port to Chowk in Maharashtra. The project will be developed on build, operate and transfer (BOT) mode at an estimated investment of 4,500.62 INR-Crore.
This highway in Maharashtra will seamlessly link JNPA Port (NH-348) to the Mumbai-Pune Highway (NH-48). Additionally, it will connect to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Mumbai-Goa National Highway (NH-66). The project includes two tunnels through the Sahyadri mountains. These tunnels will eliminate the ghat section, enabling commercial vehicles, especially large container trucks, to travel at high speeds.
