Center greenlights INR 15,000 Crore for Odisha highway projects

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has given the green light to four major national highway projects in Odisha. The total estimated investment for these ventures is INR 15,000 Crore. Soon, the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for these ambitious projects will be prepared.

The approved projects include:

  • Bhubaneswar-Puri Expansion: This project entails a 60 Km stretch and six lanes, with an estimated cost of INR 1,800 crore. It promises to enhance connectivity significantly.
  • Kesinga-Junagarh Upgrade: The 46 Km stretch of NH-26 will receive a major upgrade, featuring 4 lanes and an estimated budget of INR 1,000 crore. This improvement will boost regional travel.
  • Chandikhole-Barbil Widening: The 200 Km stretch will have 8 lanes with a staggering investment of around INR 10,000 Crore. 
  • Khurda-Nayagarh Construction: The 54 Km-long NH-57 will be built with 4 lanes at an estimated cost of INR 1,100 Crore, promising smoother and more efficient travel.

Additionally, the two-laning of the 246 Km Koraput-Podamari project (NH-326) has received around INR 2,500 Crore. The Central Roads and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) has already disbursed INR 500 Crore this year for the project, allocating additional funds if needed. 

Consequently, these highway projects in Odisha represent a monumental stride towards enhancing infrastructure and connectivity in the region.
