The Center has approved an estimated 1,338 INR-Crore for an Access-Controlled Highway project on NH-40 in Tamil Nadu. The project will stretch approximately 28 Km from Walajapet/Ranipet to the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border.
The highway will feature a 4 lane main carriageway with paved shoulders and 2-lane service roads on both sides. Additionally, it will include a 10 Km bypass for Walajapet/Ranipet, four major bridges, and two railway over-bridges.

This Access-Controlled Highway will connect Chennai to key cities like Bengaluru, Tirupati, and Vellore, significantly reducing travel time. Moreover, the project aligns with the upcoming Special Economic Zone in Ranipet, set to be completed by 2025, further driving economic growth.
