Chandigarh Railway Station to be upgraded

Background:

Ministry of Railways (MOR) has decided to develop/redevelop certain identified railway stations across India through a special purpose company named as ‘Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited’.

About the Project:

Chandigarh has an existing station on Delhi-Ambala-Kalka line of the Indian Railways network and is proposed to be redeveloped as a world-class station for which IRSDC has already initiated a separate tender on EPC basis. It serves the tri-city of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.

The project envisages commercial development on buildable plots along with Mandatory Works comprising of roads, relocation of Railway facilities and a RUB (Road under Bridge) at Chandigarh Railway Station on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.

The commercial development will lead to the provision of facilities like a hotel, retail, office spaces, commercial complex, and markets, etc.

Technical Specifications:

The total Chandigarh Railway land area is approximately 493.55 acres. The built-up area shall be up to 25 lakh sq ft including 7.5 lakh sq ft residential on approx 12.98 acres land. A substantial part of the permitted built-up area shall be dedicated to necessary EWS housing units and social infrastructure.
