Chennai Metro Rail Corporation (CMRL) has started the construction of underground stations for Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase II, Under Corridor 3, at some locations including Otteri, Pattalam and Perambur.
Corridor-3, spanning 45.4km, traverses the eastern side of the city, connecting suburban areas such as Madhavaram Milk Colony and Old Mahabalipuram Road with core city areas like Chetpet, Nungambakkam, Mylapore, and Adyar. Out of the three ongoing underground stations, the Pattalam metro station will be developed as a stacked station, with level one featuring a concourse, level two serving the upper track line, and level three carrying the downward track line.

Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail comprises three corridors: Madhavaram to SIPCOT (corridor-3), Light House to Poonamallee (corridor-4), and Madhavaram to Sholinganallur (corridor-5). This Phase-II project, spanning 116 km, is expected to cost around INR 61,843 Crore.
