Construction of Perumbavoor bypass begins

Construction of the much-anticipated Perumbavoor Bypass officially began on Tuesday, December 17. The estimated cost of the project is 301 INR-Crore and is expected to be completed within seven months.

The Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala is implementing the Perumbavoor Bypass project. The road will stretch across 4 Km in two phases. Phase I spans around 1.5 Km, connecting Maruthu Kavala on Aluva-Munnar Road to Old MC Road. Meanwhile, Phase II will extend from Old MC Road to Palakkatt Thazham. Designed as a four-lane highway, the road will feature an 18 M tarred width, footpaths, and drainage facilities on both sides, ensuring smooth and efficient traffic flow.

Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) has approved around 134 INR-Crore for Phase I. Furthermore, authorities acquired an anticipated 2.74 Hectares of land in Perumbavoor village. A construction contract worth 25.04 INR-Crore has been signed for Phase I works. Phase II will require an estimated 170.53 INR-Crore. Moreover, land acquisition for the second phase has begun, covering areas in Perumbavoor, Vengola, and Marampilly villages.
