On April 9th, the Delhi Transport Minister, Kailash Gahlot, laid the foundation stone for the Kirari Bus depot, which will house 140 buses. The depot, spanning 5.4 acres, will be equipped with modern facilities, including Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
This is part of the Delhi government’s initiative to construct nine new bus depots across the city to accommodate the growing number of buses.
The construction of the Kirari Bus depot, costing INR 160 crore, includes payment of nearly INR 40 crore to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for land acquisition, INR 40 crore to the Public Works Department (PWD) for depot construction, and almost INR 80 crore for depot electrification.
