On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the state government has approved projects worth INR 40,000 crore, including the establishment of an electric vehicle facility in Pune and an EV battery manufacturing unit in Aurangabad.

The investment for the EV and battery manufacturing units amounts to INR 12,482 crore. Gogoro India Pvt Ltd, a private company, has been entrusted with the task of setting up 12,000 battery-swapping stations throughout the state in the coming years.

Battery swapping stations serve as convenient locations where electric vehicle owners can swiftly exchange their depleted batteries for fully charged ones. The Chief Minister highlighted that these initiatives will significantly contribute to the rapid expansion of the EV sector.
