Foundation stone of Patanjali Gurukulam in Haridwar to be laid on Saturday

On the occasion of its 29th foundation day, the Patanjali Yogapeeth will lay the foundation stone of the world’s largest Gurukul – ‘Patanjali Gurukulam’, today, January 06. The institution will be developed in Haridwar, Uttarakhand on land previously owned by Swami Darshananand Gurukul Mahavidyalaya.

The scope of work involves the construction of three major infrastructures – a seven-storey Patajnjali Gurukulam, a branch of Acharyakulam, and Maharshi Dayanand Guest Houses. A statue of the legendary warrior Prithviraj Chouhan will also be installed. The overall project will be developed at a combined estimated cost of INR 500 Crore, with INR 250 Crore dedicated to the institute.

The Patanjali Gurukulam will have the capacity to accommodate nearly 1500 children whereas the Acharyakulam will house approximately 500 day-boarding students. The institute will focus on empowering students by teaching them values that will enable them to connect with their cultures and origins. The Yog Guru Baba Ramdev also mentioned developing a community center within 1-2 years in Haridwar for the locals.
