Four firms qualify for bids to develop Jewar airport

Earlier in May this year, a global tender was floated for the development of Jewar International Airport Noida. On October 30th 2019, when the deadline to submit bids for the project ended, officials said that four bidders have met all technical and financial criteria to participate in the bids to develop the Jewar International Airport.

Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL), Fairfax India Holdings Corp., and GMR Infrastructure Ltd were among the four bidders who qualified.

The Uttar Pradesh government would be opening the technical bids on 6th November, and financial bids will be opened on 29th November. The developer for the airport will be finalized and awarded the contract in January 2020.

The airport would be built in four phases. The first phase of the airport would be spread over 1,334 hectares and is expected to be completed by 2023, according to officials.

Spread over 5,000 hectares, the airport, second in the national capital region after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport will cost an estimated Rs 20,000 crore. It is touted to have as many as 6 runways, the most in India, when fully built.
