Foxconn, an Apple supplier, will invest 4400 INR-Crore ($600 million) to set up two manufacturing facilities in Karnataka, India.

One plant, in partnership with Applied Materials, will manufacture chipmaking tools for electronic products, including Apple devices. The second plant, valued at 2450 INR-Crore ($350 million), will produce components for smartphones, including those for iPhones.

Foxconn’s CEO, Young Liu, met with government officials to finalize the investment decisions. The manufacturing facility is expected to create 14,000 jobs in the region.

The land required for the project spans approximately 100 acres in Karnataka’s Devanahalli Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR). Foxconn is also in talks with Tamil Nadu and Gujarat governments for potential investments in electronic component manufacturing and a semiconductor plant, respectively.

The investments will strengthen Foxconn’s position in the global electronics market and boost domestic manufacturing capabilities for Apple products.
