In July 2020, Google initially revealed its intentions to invest $10 billion in India over the next five to seven years, aiming to accelerate the adoption of digital services in this significant overseas market.

Last year in December, Pichai had also mentioned that a portion of the India Digitisation Fund (IDF) would specifically focus on Indian startups, with a quarter of the $300 million fund being allocated to entities led by women.
