The Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA) has taken a significant step towards enhancing religious and athletic tourism in Gorakhpur by announcing the construction of a modern sports city in the district. Covering over 25 acres of land under the Rapti Nagar extension plan, the sports city aims to attract sports enthusiasts and pilgrims alike.
The proposed sports city will feature an array of facilities within its premises. These include an indoor stadium, a sports clinic, residential flats, and a meeting hall, providing a comprehensive experience for sports fans. The foundation stone for this new township will be laid in the near future.
In a separate development, the GDA has also recognized the growing popularity of Gorakhpur’s Ramgarh Lake as a tourist destination. To enhance its appeal, a 6-km Ring Road will be constructed by the GDA, encircling the lake and preserving its natural beauty. Additionally, this road will alleviate traffic congestion in the area, ensuring smoother transportation.
Furthermore, the GDA board has approved the pricing of plots in the sought-after “Medcity” neighborhood near the Deoria bypass. Chief Engineer Kishan Singh revealed that approximately 700 plots have been allocated for the new city, alongside the 2,700 plots available under the Rapti Nagar and Taramandal Scheme.
In an effort to provide affordable housing options, Singh specified that 512 plots would be designated for the economically vulnerable sectors. This allocation includes 450 plots for LIG (Lower Income Group), 224 plots for MIG (Middle Income Group), and 224 plots for HIG (Higher Income Group). The pricing for these plots will range from INR 3,525 to INR 4,000 per SqFt.
Registrations for plot purchases will commence soon, with the cost set at INR 7,050 per SqFt for commercial use. Additionally, the establishment of a school within the new city will require an investment of INR 2,115 per SqFt.
