The Himachal Pradesh Government, led by CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is embarking on a significant infrastructure project. The authority plans to construct an 890M double-lane tunnel in Shimla beneath Jakhu Hill.
The proposed tunnel will run from Nav-Bahar to Circular Road (near Indira Gandhi Medical College – IGMC) in Shimla. The total cost for this project is estimated at INR 295 Crore, with INR 100 Crore already released. The government will start the tender process by the end of this month.

CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also announced that the land acquisition process will kick off within a week. Additionally, the government allocated an estimated INR 122 Crore to widen and strengthen circular roads. This project is set to boost economic growth as well as connectivity in this region.
