MP Margani Bharat Ram, on Monday, December 04, announced that the Andhra Pradesh Government has sanctioned INR 347 Crore for the development of an International Airport in the state named Rajamahendravaram Airport. Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and the state CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will lay the foundation stone for the upcoming project on Friday, December 08.
The proposed project is aimed at being the largest airport in the state, with a runway spanning 3.8 km. The scope of work includes the construction of the runway and terminal building including five aerobridges. The airport, once operational, will accommodate approximately 1400 passengers.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has approved the project to be developed to meet international standards with advanced technology and all facilities. It is an effort to attract major airlines so that people can fly directly from Rajahmundry to Delhi, Tirupati, Mumbai, Dubai, and the Gulf countries.
