The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has allocated an estimated INR 6,000 Crore for the construction of the strategic Frontier Highway in Arunachal Pradesh over 11 packages, in a significant move towards enhancing connectivity in border areas. The Frontier Highway (also known as NH-913) will run close to the India-Tibet-China-Myanmar border and will be executed in a phased manner.
This Mega Road Project will be undertaken by three government agencies, including the State Public Works Department (PWD), the Border Road Organisation (BRO), and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL). It will be developed as a 1748 km two-lane highway, located approximately 20 km from the international border at several locations and is anticipated to start commencement in April 2024.
