JSW Infrastructure Limited (JSW Infra) has secured a Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) to develop, operate, and manage a multipurpose, all-weather port in Murbe village, Palghar district, Maharashtra. This massive 4,259 INR-Crore project is expected to generate around 1,500 jobs.
Aligning with the company’s FY30 growth strategy, the project aims to boost port capacity from 170 MTPA to 400 MTPA. This greenfield project is based on a public-private partnership (PPP) with a design, build, own, operate, and transfer (DBOOT) model. Moreover, once built, the port by JSW Infra will handle captive, bulk, and dry bulk cargo. Strategically located near major highways, such as NH 8 and Boisar Road, and rail routes like the Delhi-Mumbai trunk line, the port will enhance connectivity.

On Monday, September 30, Maharashtra’s cabinet officially approved JSW Infra as the developer. A detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared after evaluating all the technical aspects of the project. Additionally, plans for rehabilitating the local fishermen’s community will be developed with input from CWPRS and CMFRI.
