Wistron (ICT Service Management Solutions), a Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer, signed the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Karnataka Government on Wednesday, January 31, to set up a laptop manufacturing facility. The project will see an estimated investment of INR 1500 Crore and is anticipated to generate 3000 job opportunities.
In response to Wistron’s request for approximately 32 Acres of land, the state government is considering providing the required land in the Bangalore region. The work is slated to start in July 2024, while the company aims to start manufacturing laptops by January 2026. This first-of-a-kind facility will be fully automated and align with Industry 4.0 standards, producing all kinds of laptops with over 50% of the products intended for export.

The project is poised to foster innovation, create employment, as well as position Karnataka as a leader in the electronic manufacturing industry.
