KPCL signs MoU with Tehri Hydro Development Corp to develop Power projects worth INR 15,000 Crore in Karnataka

Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) and Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited (THDCL), on Thursday, November 09, signed the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for the development of various power projects across the state. The projects, once finalized, will lead to an investment of approximately 15,000 INR-Crore by THDCL on manually agreed terms and conditions.

The MoU refers to the development of – a 100 MW floating solar power plant at Kadra Dam Reservoir, Uttara Kannada district, a 1500 MW pumped storage plant at Varahi, Shimoga district, and a 170 MW ground-mounted rooftop solar PV plant in the premises of KPCL plants.

In addition, the Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Corporation (KREDC) also signed the MoU with THDCL to develop Renewable Energy projects. These include the development of a 1 GW hybrid project and a 500 MW Bidar solar park.

In both cases, THDCL can self-identify solar and any other renewable energy (RE) projects in Karnataka and approach KREDL to allot these projects through the Government of Karnataka.
