The Maharashtra government has allocated INR 6,000 Crore to MSRDC (Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation) to speed up the land acquisition process of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) Project in Pune. The proposed amount is expected to be disbursed within the next two months, an MSRDC officer disclosed on Saturday, December 16.
The proposed 136.8 km Outer Ring Road (ORR) Project is divided into eastern and western phases. MSRDC has acquainted 50% land for the western, whereas 20% land for the eastern phase. The overall estimated cost of the project is INR 15,857 Crore and the state government will disburse INR 11,000 Crore in nine phases (for land acquisition). MSRDC will float a Request for Proposal (RFP) for appointing the contractor sometime in January 2024.

The state government gave clearance for the ORR project in 2015 and it is anticipated to be completed by May 2026 (nearly 30 months). It is aimed at reducing traffic congestion on the major interstate and within-the-state highways.
