MHADA to redevelop 17 police colonies in Mumbai

MHADA (Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority) has initiated the redevelopment of 17 police colonies in Mumbai following meetings between the housing and state home departments. The Housing Authority is currently in the process of appointing a project management consultant for the same.

Under this venture, MHADA will redevelop a total of 4,725 flats with advanced carpet areas and hand them over to the police department free of cost. The authority submitted a report outlining possible options for redevelopment six months ago.

MHADA will be redeveloping colonies in Mahim, Andheri, Powai, Kurla, DN Nagar, Goregaon, Aram Nagar, Dharavi, and Ghatkopar. The 4225 flats that currently have 180-225 SqFt carpet area will be upgraded to approximately 484 SqFt for low-ranking personnel. 500 apartments with a carpet area of approximately 646 SqFt will be handed over to officer-level personnel.
