Mumbai to Goa in just 6 hours, new Konkan Expressway work underway

Riya Fernandes Aug 22, 2024 0

In a significant development, the Maharashtra Govt plans to build a 376 km long expressway, known as the Konkan Expressway, connecting Mumbai to Goa. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will manage the construction of this 6-lane, access-controlled highway.

The Konkan Expressway will feature 14 interchanges in total. Estimated to cost 68,000 INR-Crore, the project will require around 3,792 Hectares of land, including 146 Hectares of forest land. This massive investment will not only shorten travel time but also boost tourism and create job opportunities in the districts surrounding the highway.

Moreover, work on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Konkan Expressway has already begun. This new corridor will drastically cut travel time and offer a comfortable experience to all commuters. The expressway will link Panvel (Navi Mumbai) to Sindhudurg via Raigad and Ratnagiri. Consequently, this will slash travel time from Mumbai to Sindhudurg from 12-13 hours to just 6 hours.

Meanwhile, the already-sanctioned Mumbai-Goa Expressway is expected to become operational by December 2024.
