Nalanda Open University (NOU) is a university at Patna in Bihar state, India and is the only university in Bihar providing education through distance and open education and the second largest open university in India.

On March 1, 2019, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone of Nalanda Open University (NOU) campus at Rajgir in Nalanda, Bihar.

At present, Nalanda Open University (NOU) is functioning from Biscomaun Tower and its new campus is being developed close to the ancient Nalanda University ruins after UGC made it mandatory for all universities in India to have their own campuses.

The building is proposed on a 40 acre plot of land by utilizing an estimated outlay of Rs. 84 crore.

Bihar educational infrastructure development corporation (BEIDC) will construct the building having around 1.10-lakh square feet built up space and is expected to be ready for shifting in two years.
