SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), a subsidiary of SJVN, has sent a proposal to the state government for setting up four floating solar projects in Goa with an estimated investment of INR 1300 Crore. These projects are anticipated to generate 190MW of power and will be developed at the Selaulim, Amthanem, Anjunem, and Chapoli dams.

The state government had invited EOIs (Expression of Interest) to develop grid-connected solar power plants on four dams in 2021, on a design, build, finance, operate (DBFO) mode. The EOI includes solar power generation, water conservation due to reduced evaporation, high power generation due to the ‘maintained’ temperature of solar panels, and employment generation in the rural community.

Moreover, SJVN has undertaken the implementation of a membrane-based floating pilot project (ranging from 1-2MW) and has signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Department of New and Renewable Energy. Two sites, including the breakwater of Mormugao Port Authority’s port site and downstream in Mandovi River, have been identified for the same.
