On World Earth Day Godrej Interio reveals that sustainable products saw a revenue contribution of INR 1000cr in FY22
Godrej & Boyce, the flagship company of the Godrej Group, announced that its business Godrej Interio, India’s leading furniture solutions brand, in home and institutional segments, on the World Earth Day has revealed that in FY 2021-22, they have experienced an increase in demand for Environmentally sustainable products with revenues from the category touching close to INR 1000 cr. This is indicative of the shift in both consumer and institutional buying preferences for more sustainable products. Godrej Interio has also committed to certifying all its manufacturing plants to energy management systems by 2024, which will reduce energy consumption and decrease strain on the planet.
Overall, in line with their sustainability goals, they have also reduced their specific energy consumption by 36.5% based on the Good & Green Vision baseline of FY 2010-11 despite the addition of a new facility in Khalapur. Godrej Interio has committed to double its energy productivity by 2030 and to implement an energy management system (EMS) in all of its manufacturing facilities by 2024, ahead of the corporate commitment timeline set for 2030.
Further, Godrej Interio has adopted various technologies across all the manufacturing locations to reduce its impact on the planet. These technologies include the use of VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) on pumps and blowers, use of waste recovery technologies such as heat pipes, use of heat pumps, installation of energy-efficient machines and energy-efficient lighting etc. In alignment with Godrej & Boyce’s commitment toward sustainable earth and social transformation, at Godrej Interio, the wastewater generated through domestic or process use is connected to a water treatment facility. At Godrej Interio, recycled water carried out via various processes makes up to 40% of their total water usage.
The manufacturing plants in Shirwal and Haridwar have installed 360 kW and 329 kW roof-top solar panels, respectively. Godrej Interio receives 13% of the total energy consumption from renewable energy sources. The plants in Vikhroli, Shirwal, Bhagwanpur, Chennai and Haridwar are ISO 50001:2018 certified.
