Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) in Mumbai is constructing a modern 17-story building next to its existing hospital. This move will almost double the number of beds available for patients. Right now, Tata Memorial Hosiptal already has over 600 beds and treats more than 1,000 patients daily.
The new project, overseen by Dr. Shailesh Shrikhande, TMH’s Deputy Director, is expected to be finished in about four years with a cost of 880 INR-crore. The new TATA Hospital will have two parts: one with rooms for 208 doctors and another with 200 rooms for patients and their families. This expansion is happening on a piece of land provided by the Haffkine Institute.

Dr. R. Badwe, the Director of TMH, emphasized that they’re creating specialized areas in Mumbai for patients from different parts of the country. They’re also setting up advanced facilities like a proton center and a pediatric cancer center in Navi Mumbai.
TMH is also partnering with Tata Trust to establish cancer centers in remote areas. They plan to open 17 centers in the north-eastern part of India.
As part of their expansion plan, they’re also building a chemotherapy day-care center in Bhoiwada. This center, supported by a land donation, will be able to help up to 500 patients every day.
