“Just as our name suggests, we are perfectionists who leave no stone unturned in executing every project with an emphasis on every little detail” states Jesal Lodha, founder of The Little Details. The Mumbai-based firm founded in 2017, around the design approach to create and curate a distinct identity for every space. The focus being residential and commercial sectors, the team stands firm and furnishes quality, strategies, and details. With a diploma in interior design and extensive experience, Jesal has transformed volumes into conscious spaces.

Women bring unique perspectives, ideas, and experiences to the table that enrich conversations and lead to better decisions. Albeit it often takes boldness to make our voices heard, it is essential we bring opinions and ideas to the table to share with the world.

Each new endeavour brings with it different challenges and opportunities that shapes the approach and thought-process. Jesal says, “Like every other practice, it was a challenge to gain client’s confidence and bag the first projects when I started my journey. Although, social media emerged as an effective tool to display my skills and gain popularity. Alongside that, support from family and friends has always helped.” Architecture had been a male-dominated field for a long time. Though times have changed a lot now, with a plethora of successful female architects and  interior designers in India. Jesal voices, “In the present competitive market, gender diversity is good business. Women bring unique perspectives, ideas, and experiences to the table that enrich conversations and lead to better decisions. Albeit it often takes boldness to make our voices heard, it is essential we bring opinions and ideas to the table to share with the world.”

The Little Details as a practice believes in designing spaces that reflect its occupants. Blending functionality with aesthetics through materials, textures, patterns and colour, the firm thus endorses their philosophy. Jesal states, “We can’t design a space that doesn’t reflect soul and character. We can only achieve that when the users and their needs become a part of the design process.” Along with design, the firm also tries to focus on the materiality, programmatic connections, functionality and a sense of space. With the notion that planning and layout is the soul of any creative construction, the apartment/office is also considered as a backdrop to orchestrate around the functional and engaging elements of home.

Solace In Simplicity was one of many projects that resonated with their beliefs and design approach. Jesal says, “For instance, in this project the brief submitted by the client was to design a contemporary storage unit which accommodated a bar, wash basin and ample storage for dinnerware. It all had to blend in as one single unit.” This residence is therefore designed as a timeless home which merges contemporary design and subtle elegance.

The pandemic changed the dynamics of offices and apartments when homes are being utilised as offices, classrooms, conference rooms, and gyms simultaneously. While spatial functions have multiplied, staying at home has also resulted in an appreciation for simpler lifestyles. This has led to the idea of rethinking a home as a retreat rather than a mere shelter. Jesal states, “The pandemic has reshaped the way we live, which directly affects the way we design. From floor plans for home-bound activities to designing spaces that bring the outdoors in, we are looking to the future by considering what gives us room to breathe and live together.”

The firm is excited to explore more humble materials across their projects while adapting to the trends and how it can all be blended to achieve a cohesive timeless output. With their expertise and eye for detail, The Little Details are thus converting dream-spaces into reality.
