TIDCO to set up INR 120 Crore Test Centre to aid defense, Aerospace Industries

TIDCO (Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation) has planned to partner with a private company to develop a test centre for Electromagnetic Compatibility and Communication (EMI/EMC) in Trichy. The proposed facility will be developed over 1.2 acres of land parcel at an estimated construction cost of 120 INR Crore.

B Krishnamoorthy, special secretary and project director for TIDCO, informed that the layouts and equipment required for the test centre have been finalized. The proposed facility will be a key to the Ministry’s efforts towards building an enabling ecosystem for the electronics and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Out of the total funding, 75 INR Crores will be funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, while the rest will be raised through equities. TIDCO has proposed to invest approximately 13 INR Crore as equity and has floated an Expression of Interest (EOI) to find partners for the remaining investment. 

TIDCO has also planned two more test centres in the district (near Sriperumbudur), for providing improved reliability and safety for electrical and electronic equipment.
