1. Likaru-Mig La-Fukche Road in Ladakh
Under the ambitious HIMANK initiative of the Border Road Organisation (BRO), the Likaru-Mig La-Kukche road project is poised to achieve a remarkable milestone as the world’s tallest motorable road through glaciers.
With an estimated cost of INR 520 Crore, the project will span approximately 64 Km. At an altitude of 19,400 feet, this road will forge a crucial link between Likaru and Fukche, just 3 Km short of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Situated near Hanle in eastern Ladakh, its primary objective is to ensure vital connectivity to military outposts in the sensitive Fukche sector.
Notably, this project marks a historic milestone as it is the first in India to be entirely executed by an All-Woman Road Construction Company. Once operational, the Likaru-Mig La-Fukche road will underscore India’s commitment to bolstering strategic infrastructure in the North East region.
2. Chenab Bridge
In a monumental leap forward in engineering prowess, The Chenab Bridge will be the world’s highest rail bridge, adding a spectacle to Jammu and Kashmir’s already scenic landscape. This upcoming mega project will establish crucial rail connectivity, linking the Kashmir Valley with Jammu. With a span of approximately 13,115 M and towering at 359 M, the bridge will extend over the Chenab River, forming an essential link between Bakkal and Kauri in the Reasi district.
As an integral part of the Katra Banihal line, it plays a pivotal role in finalizing the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project, enhancing crucial connectivity throughout the region.
