Assam government inked Memorandums of understanding (MOUs) worth INR 3114 Crore for setting up mega industries with private enterprises.
On Saturday, September 23, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the ceremonial signing of MOUs between the Assam government’s Industries Department and six private-sector industrial enterprises for the establishment of mega-industrial parks.

The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and Jenipro Hotels Pvt Ltd have also signed a land lease agreement to establish a 5-star category hotel with an INR 100 Crore investment near Kaziranga National Park in Hatighuli Bagisa Gaon.
Describing the signing of the MOU as a historic moment for the State, Sarma stated that M/s Kesar Petro Products’ INR 2,000 Crore investment will create approximately 200 direct and 1800 indirect job opportunities. Additionally, Longspan Structures’ INR 129 Crore investment is expected to generate around 220 direct and 180 indirect job opportunities.
Likewise, investments from M/s SBL Biscuits (INR 139 Crore), M/s Umrangshu (India) Cement LLP (INR 285 Crore), M/s Sunit Breweries (INR 151 Crore), and M/s Jericho (INR 410 Crore) will provide employment opportunities for thousands of job-seekers in the State.
He expressed confidence that in the next 18 months, private sector investments in the State since 2019 will exceed INR 50,000 Crore, and within two to three years, the total private sector investments will surpass INR 1 Lakh Crore.
