BHEL bags order worth INR 9,500 Crore to set up 1,600 MW thermal project from NTPC

State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), on Tuesday, March 5, in its regulatory filing announced that the company has bagged an order for the 1600 MW Singrauli Super Thermal Power Project (Stage II) from renewable energy giant NTPC Ltd. The project will be executed at an estimated cost of INR 9,500 Crore.

The scope of work involves the construction of 2×800 MW thermal power units at the Singrauli Plant in the Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. It includes the supply of equipment, erection, and commissioning of the plant on the sidelines of civil works. The construction of Unit I is expected to be completed within 50 months, whereas Unit II is anticipated to be operational within 54 months of commencement.

BHEL mentioned that the company had placed bids on this project earlier in December 2023 and was the sole bidder for the same. NTPC has issued the letter of award for the Singrauli Thermal Power Project to BHEL on EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) mode.
