Kochi to host country’s first carbon-neutral Sports City worth INR 750 Crore, featuring International Cricket Stadium

Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) plans to develop the country’s first carbon-neutral sports city, named ‘Cochin Sports City, featuring an international stadium at Chengamanad village near the Cochin International Airport. The project will sprawl over an anticipated 40 Acres of land parcel worth an estimated investment of INR 750 Crore.

The upcoming Cochin Sports City will have a seating capacity of 40,000 spectators and include facilities, such as indoor and outdoor practice areas, training grounds, sports academy & research centers, eco park & water sports park, sports medicine & fitness center, E-sports arena, entertainment zone, and clubhouse.

KCA submitted the initial design proposal (as part of its ‘Beyond 2020’ mission) to Chief Minister Pinaraya Vijayan during the four-day International Sports Summit, Kerala, on Tuesday, January 23. The project received approval from the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and is currently awaiting approval from the state government.
