Fertilizer cooperative Krishak Bharati Cooperative Ltd (KRIBHCO) is making an investment of approximately INR 1,100 Crore to establish three ethanol manufacturing plants that will utilize maize and broken rice as feedstock.
These three plants, boasting a daily capacity of 250 kilo liters each, are being set up in Gujarat, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. KRIBHCO intends to supply ethanol to oil marketing companies (OMCs) for the purpose of blending with petrol.

KRIBHCO established a wholly-owned Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named ‘KRIBHCO Green Energy Private Limited’ to facilitate the development of three bioethanol projects at Hazira in Gujarat, Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, and Jagtial in Telangana.
This SPV has secured both environmental clearance and in-principle approval from the Department of Food and Public Distribution for an interest subvention scheme covering all three projects. Additionally, the SPV has awarded Lump Sum Turn Key (LSTK) contracts for all three bioethanol projects to Excel Engineers and Consultants.
