Over 1182 new construction projects tracked in September

In September 2022, Biltrax Construction Data tracked over 1182 new projects. These include 733 building projects as well as 449 industrial and infrastructure projects.

Building Construction Projects Insights

The 733 building projects monitored for the month of September 2022 cover a total area of 206.81 million sq. ft. amounting to a total construction cost of INR 1,09,030 crores. Of these 733 projects, 316 are currently under construction and 417 are early-stage projects whose construction has not yet started. Among these projects, 462 are private projects and 271 are public projects.

The PVR Lakshya residential project in Muthangi, Telangana, is one of the mega projects tracked under the residential category (construction cost INR 3,627 crores; construction area 80,60,597 sq. ft.). PVR Developers India Pvt. Ltd. will develop this project, consisting of 3402 apartments with amenities for a gated community. Environment clearance approval is still pending for this residential project, but construction is expected to begin shortly. Other megaprojects tracked include a proposed commercial building – L&T IT and ITeS Park, Vadodara. The construction cost of this extensive commercial development is INR 7,000 crores, and the construction area is more than 20,00,000 sq. ft.

362 new tenders were floated and duly tracked with a tender value of over INR 19,657 crores. Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Madhya Pradesh Police Housing & Infrastructure Development Corporation (MPPHC), and Public Work Department, Madhya Pradesh are among the top and most notable tender issuers (MP PWD).

Industrial and Infrastructure Projects Insights

The 144 industrial projects monitored for the month of September 2022 cover a total area of 71.38 million sq. ft. amounting to a total construction cost of INR 63,864 crores. Among the states, Rajasthan topped the industrial projects chart grossing 14 projects, followed by Maharashtra, Maddhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and West Bengal. 

In the road infrastructure category, there were 36 projects entailing a construction cost of INR 22,530 crores. In terms of water infrastructure projects, 231 projects amounting to a total of INR 8,797 crores were tracked. Maharashtra attracted the highest number of water projects with 64 projects, followed by Orissa, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

The month of September also saw the monitoring of two major infrastructure projects related to transport. This includes Bangalore Metro Phase 3A, Corridor 1 (JP Nagara – Kempapura) with an investment of INR 8,000 crores and Pune Neo Metro (Bopadi – Ambekar Chowk) with an investment of INR 4,940 crores. 

The construction work for Arcelor Mittal Integrated Steel Manufacturing Plant, Hazira, Gujarat has also begun. Approximately INR 35,145 crores will be spent on this manufacturing plant.
