PM lays foundation, inaugurates and dedicates to the nation 2000 Railway Infra projects worth INR 41,000 Crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, February 26, laid the foundation stone, inaugurated and dedicated to the Nation around 2000 railway infrastructure projects worth more than INR 41,000 Crore via video conferencing. He laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

These stations spread across 27 States and Union Territories, will be redeveloped at an estimated INR 19,000 Crore and will act as ‘City Centres’ integrating both sides of the city. They will have modern passenger amenities like roof plazas, beautiful landscaping, intermodal connectivity, improved modern façade, kids’ play area, kiosks, food courts, etc. Furthermore, they will be redeveloped as environment-friendly and Divyang-friendly. The design of these station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture.

PM Modi also inaugurated, laid the foundation stone, and dedicated to the nation 1500 Road Over Bridges and Underpasses. These Road Over Bridges and Underpasses are spread across 24 States and Union Territories at an overall cost of INR 21,520 Crore. These are poised to reduce congestion, enhance safety and connectivity, and improve the capacity and efficiency of rail travel.
